Quantum Leap

Say hello to Dan and Leah, owners of Quantum Leap here in Downtown Johnson City! They got the idea to open a trampoline park after living in Germany for 4 years and seeing inflatable parks everywhere. They love being Downtown and being a place for kids (and adults) to come have fun!

What made you want to open a business in Downtown Johnson City?

Leah said, because of the way Johnson City is growing and they have a love for all the venues and restaurants and it’s nice to be a part of the downtown community.

Where did you get the idea to open a trampoline park?

Leah and her family lived in Germany for 4 years and they noticed there were inflatable parks everywhere that were a huge hit, so they decided to bring the idea to Johnson City. They originally had a park in Kingsport called Leaping Lizards and then they decided to make the move to Downtown Johnson City.

How long have you been Downtown?

They bought the space in August 2015 and opened in September 2016.

What is your favorite spot to hangout downtown when you aren’t working?

 Atlantic Ale House

What is the biggest party you have booked?

Quantum Leap offers lock-ins for different types of events such as birthday parties or church retreats that allow the kids to spend the night. The biggest was around 250 jumpers, but the building can hold up to 760.

Where is your business located?

117 E King Street, Johnson City, TN 37601

Johnson City Development Authority Offers CO.STARTERS – Beginning June 3 (9 Consecutive Mondays)

The Johnson City Development Authority is partnering with AccelNow, to offer CO.STARTERS, a nine-week cohort based program that equips aspiring entrepreneurs with the insights, relationships, and tools needed to turn ideas into action, and turn a passion into a sustainable and thriving endeavor. The program is for aspiring entrepreneurs or seasoned entrepreneurs looking to launch a new product or service. The only prerequisites are:

  1. having an idea you’re ready, willing, and excited to share and pursue and
  2. a willingness to study, shape and fine-tune that idea in a supportive, collaborative, and welcoming environment
  3. commit to regular attendance and the work needed to complete the nine week program

Participants of the CO.STARTERS program work with a small and supportive group of like-minded people who are all trying to start their own businesses. Working together, participants identify their assumptions about why and how their respective businesses will succeed, and talk with customers to validate their ideas. The process enables the entrepreneurs to rapidly uncover issues in their proposed businesses, find practical solutions quickly, and leave the program with a deeper understanding of how to launch a successful business.

The next session begins Monday, June 3.

Dates: June 3 – July 29 (9 consecutive Mondays)

Time: 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Location: NETREP office in downtown Johnson City – at 300 E. Main Street, 4th floor

CO.STARTERS came out of The Company Lab, a Chattanooga, Tennessee organization that offers programs and events to support local startups and innovators in Chattanooga and the surrounding region. The program takes the lessons learned from working with thousands of local, creative entrepreneurs and combines that knowledge with the lean business modeling methods used by high-growth startups. The CO.STARTERS model has been tested for years in Chattanooga, Cincinnati, and Detroit.
