Holiday Sip, Shop and Stroll

The shopping event begins at 5 pm.

You can pick up your insulated tumbler and passport at one of three locations. Depending on where you park, you should find a pick up location close by.

If you park in the Cherry Street lot, pick up at Blowtique.
If you park in Downtown Square lot, Downtown Yoga on Spring Street.
If you park at either the Pavilion or Market Street lots, check in at Trek.

Pick up ends around 6:20 pm.

Each of the businesses are offering refreshments and many have extra specials just for you! Please stop by as many as you can. You might discover something new. In order to be entered into the door prize drawing, you must visit at least 6 businesses. Door prizes will be drawn at 9:20 pm at the after party at Go Burritto. Please make sure you drop your passport there by 9:15.

Music will be in Downtown Yoga and on the street at Barley Waters. You can find a map of participating businesses on the back of your passport, they will also have glowing balloons in front of their entrance. Remember to check out as many as you can, there are surprises waiting for you at many locations!

Ticket sales end at noon online, but will be available for purchase at locations above.

Meet Ren Allen! Ren is an amazing makeup artist, body painter and owner of Faces by Ren located in downtown Johnson City. She offers makeup wedding packages, prom/event makeup, commercial makeup and more!

How many years has your business been open in Downtown Johnson City?

4 years of the business being in the downtown space.

How long have you been in the makeup business?

Ren has been in the makeup business for 18 years.

What is your favorite makeup design experience?

Assisting at the World Body Painting Festival in Austria.

Why did you choose to locate your business downtown?

Ren thought the progress that was happening in the downtown community would help spark the next level of her business and she felt welcome as an artist. During the interview, she said, “Downtown JC had my vibe. I love walking out my door and having so many food options and live music”. Ren feels more connected to the downtown community.

Favorite spot to hangout downtown when you are not working?

Willow Tree for the live music and the atmosphere.

Meet Jacob, owner of King of Hearts Salon located in the King’s Centre Building. Fun fact, his wife works right next door to him at Crystal Massage!

Where did the name King of Hearts come from?

The salon is in the King’s Centre Building so it’s something easy to remember and it rolls off the tongue.

How long has the business been in Downtown Johnson City?

The business opened on August 15, 2018.

Favorite part about being downtown?

Jacob enjoys being a part of the downtown community and knowing a lot of the other business owners.

Best thing about being a hairstylist?

Jacob believes it has a lot to do with the community as well. It gives the ability to make a living through your own artistic expression. A huge pro is being able to see a wide variety of people every day.

What is your favorite, cut or color? Why?

Jacob said he can’t really pick one over the other. He believes that nothing beats making someone’s day by giving a good hair cut or doing a good color on someone.

How long have you been in the salon industry?

Jacob has been in the industry for 10 years.

Why did you choose to locate your business in Downtown Johnson City?

“I’ve worked, played, or lived down here for most of my adult life and I’ve always wanted to own a business downtown”.

Downtown “Merchant Monday Spotlight”- Owl’s Nest

Owl’s Nest

Meet Jessica and Brian Moore, owners of the Owl’s Nest in Downtown Johnson City. Owl’s Nest is a consignment store which clothes for kids, adults, and infants as well as toys and home decor!

Where did the name Owl’s Nest come from?

Originally, Jessica and Brian owned 2 consignment stores on Roan Street. The Little Hoot was focused on kids clothing and The Nest targeted adult clothing. They combined the two names to incorporate kids and adults clothing into one store.

Why did you decide to move to Downtown Johnson City?

“It chose us”. They saw the building and called the realtor to get more information. The realtor told them she was writing up a proposal to come to them first because so many people recommended them to take that space. They saw potential for the space and signed a contract. A year later, Owl’s Nest opened.

Fun fact about the business?

They are a “mom & pop” business. Jessica and Brian have been married for 15 years. Their family is from Louisiana and they relocated to Johnson City after the hurricane.

How do you balance work/family life?

They have 4 kids, 2 still at home. “It has been a challenge at times but it’s super cool how my husband and I will share the duties of family life. We bring work into family and family into work”. Jessica shared how her kids know that business is part of their family and they help whenever they can.
